Bag Gloves vs Sparring gloves?
If your looking at high quality Boxing gloves, there's a big difference between bag gloves and sparring gloves. Bag gloves tend to be denser, less padded and more compact (almost like fight gloves). Sparring gloves tend to be softer and have more padding. Bag gloves protect your hands while hitting a punching bag, and are constructed to do so day after day, without falling apart. Sparring gloves on the other hand are constructed to protect both your hands and your partner's face. When sparring gloves are used as bag gloves, the foam inside them tends to deteriorate quickly compared to bag gloves. Bag gloves are typically sold in the 8oz - 14oz range; while, sparring gloves tend to be sold in the 14oz - 20oz range.
Can i Use my bag gloves for Sparring? Truthfully, there is nothing stopping you, but if your training partners start to noticed you useing your bag gloves to spar, they may start to classify you as a "DOUCHEBAG" and people may be reluctant to spar with you.
Two things can happen, the foam inside the glove will compress and get harder or the foam will break down and get softer. Ether way, the foam provides less protection for your sparring partner, and they will feel the impact.
