Ah, the rise and fall (and rise again?) of gold weave in the world of BJJ fashion! Picture this: about a decade ago, gold weave was all the rage. It was the Beyoncé of gi fabrics – everyone wanted a piece of that golden goodness. But then, along came pearl weave, strutting its stuff like the new kid on the block, and suddenly, gold weave was yesterday’s news.
Now, if you’re a seasoned jiu-jitsu connoisseur, you probably remember the days of rocking a gold weave gi with pride. But if you’re a newbie who just stepped onto the mats in the past few years, chances are you’ve never even heard of this mythical fabric.
But hold onto your grappling shorts, because guess what? Gold weave is making a comeback! It’s like the ’90s fashion trends resurfacing – only this time, it’s in the world of martial arts gear.
So, what’s the deal with gold weave? Well, for starters, it’s like wearing a cloud made of marshmallows. Okay, maybe not that soft, but close! The looser weave makes it feel airy and breezy, perfect for those intense rolling sessions where you’re sweating like a waterfall.
And durability? Don’t even get me started. A gold weave gi is like the Energizer Bunny – it keeps going and going. It’s tough yet lightweight, so you can pull off those crazy flying submissions without feeling weighed down.
Now, let’s talk about the aging process. No, we’re not discussing fine wine; we’re talking about gis. A well-worn gold weave gi is like slipping into your favorite pair of pajamas – comfy, cozy, and oh-so-familiar.
But let’s be real here – gold weave isn’t winning any beauty contests. It’s kinda like that kitchen towel you’ve had since forever – functional, but not exactly a fashion statement.
So, there you have it – the saga of gold weave, from its glory days to its revival. Who knows, maybe one day it’ll be back in the spotlight, strutting its stuff like a jiu-jitsu fashion icon once again!

It’s way better quality than my submission sniper, bad breed or tatami ones. And I won’t have to mess around with alterations as it fits perfectly. Thanks for making gis for big guys and service mate, it’s seriously appreciated.

Imagine your most comfortable gi… then imagine your favorite pajamas/sweatpants/robe whatever… this is both. I promise you, you don’t own a rolling gi this comfy unless you have one of these.
Very light, breathable, not restricted or boxy/stiff around the shoulders like most bjj/judo gi’s, which I personally find them to be uncomfortable. Not sure who’s idea it was to make the gi pants fasten with a drawstring (like sweatpants) as opposed to the typical tie string through loops etc but they are a genius! I’ll never go back!
Super easy to do business with as well, ordered a 2xl gi but requested an xl pants size after purchasing the order (6’0″ about 250lbs I wear 36×32 so I was afraid 2xl pants would be too big). Knew I’d have to shrink the gi a bit so i was not shocked to find the set a little on the larger side. Always easier to shrink than the opposite, I wish most would follow suit like this company. Like a mouthguard, you should follow the correct steps for it to suit your preference and needs, fits great afterwards! They even threw in an EXTRA PAIR OF PANTS in case I preferred the larger ones instead AND upgraded the shipping. Love these guys, nobody else/no other site/business would do this for their customers like these guys do.
I don’t normally write reviews but I felt compelled to because this has actually helped me to improve. Hope this helps someone in making a decision. ?

I’m 5’7 and weigh 225 (athletic build) and Gorilla Fight Gears BXL is the sizing I’ve been looking for. I went through several different brands (A3 and A4s) and it was either too small or too big.
I’m grateful of this brand and the "in between" sizing that is provided.

These gi’s are pretty much indestructible! I have purchased this gi about 2+ years now barely a stitch has come loose. The B3XL fits perfectly at 6’ 300 lbs, the extra room in the shoulders is awesome! I own several of Gorilla Fight Gear gi’s and will continue to buy from this business. Highly recommend for big guys looking for the right fitting gi.

I’m 6’5" and 210. I have extra long legs and arms and this Gi is the best fit I have ever found. I purchased the TL and I am very pleased. I love the fact that the pants are stretch waist with a draw string. The jacket is very durable and most of my coaches all remarked how much they liked it. The pants are soft and very pliable. I do worry about the durability not being rip stop, but so far they have held up to some serious rolling without incident. My worry may be misplaced because the pants have had no issues even when I roll with guys 300+ lbs and they are not gentle. I’ll be buying another set soon!
